Tender Mercies...Cassie woke up at 6am and stayed awake which is not our normal routine. She babbled and cooed to herself while I got lunches ready and children out of bed. She nursed earlier than usual again...7am....usually 8am. We brought boys to school, came home, and sat in our usual spot to nurse and read scriptures, but Alyssa needed my attention...the scriptures lay on the arm of the chair unopened. Cassie fell SOUND asleep and I was able to pay a little attention to Alyssa. I sat at the table and took the quiet time to read and absorb the scriptures. I was able to read an entire chapter this time. I had the thought to turn on some music...something I love to do but more often than not I forget to do it. The music put me in a great mood. I have been able to play with Alyssa, pick up toys, bake cookies, think of dinner for tonight (which often slips my busy mind) and start preparing it. As I was picking up a few things and just feeling energetic I realized what a blessing I had been given this morning. The gift of time, peace, quiet, the contentment found in doing, and just happiness! I am grateful to a loving Father in Heaven who sends us small blessings when we need them the most!

How perfect. It is these tiny blessings that have the greatest effect, isn't it?! :)
ReplyDeleteVery true, Anaise! These tiny moments will be remembered long after the kids are grown. :)
